WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Mars Hill women's track team set two indoor school records this past weekend at the Hilton Garden Invitational.
Sophomore Alexis Montgomery set a new school record in the 60 Meter Dash with a time of 7.88 seconds. Montgomery lowers her previous school record time of 7.92 seconds, set on December 7, 2013 in the JDL Fast Track College Kickoff Classic. Montgomery wasn't the only Lion runner to achieve success in the 60 Meter Dash, as Savannah Hulbert set a new personal record in the event.
Junior Jessica Viscusi set a new school record in the Women's 1 Mile Run with a time of 5:16, breaking the previous record of 5:22 set by Kate Prichard on March 4, 2006.
On the men's side, Isaac Phyall finished with 3,925 points in the Heptathlon, only 75 points off of Jaymz Fagaragan's school record. Phyall finished in 10th place competing in a field composed entirely of NCAA Division I athletes. Trevon Gee continued his strong season, qualifying for the finals in the 60 Meter Hurdles and finishing with a time of 7.41 seconds. Gee is only .11 seconds away from qualifying for the NCAA Division II national meet.
The track teams are back in action at the VMI Relays on Feb. 22.
