Women's Track Has Solid Performance at Catamount Classic
The Mars Hill women’s track team continued to lower their times at the 2014 Beynon Catamount Classic on Saturday.
CULLOWHEE, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's track team continued to lower their times at the 2014 Beynon Catamount Classic on Saturday.
Jessica Viscusi set a new school record in the 1500 Meter Run with a time of 4:47, good for second place in the meet and is the second-best time in the South Atlantic Conference this season. Viscusi lowered the school record by six seconds. She also set a new personal best in the Pole Vault, clearing a height of 8 feet, 7.75 inches. Dana Thompson set a new school record in the Hammer Throw with a toss of 104, more than 10 feet further than the previous record.
Dawn Radford lowered her previous personal record in the 800 Meter Run by three seconds, crossing the finish line in 2:29. Savannah Hulbert finished in seventh place in the 110 Meter Hurdles with a new personal record of 15.89. Hulbert's 400 Meter Hurdle time of 1:09 is also a personal record. LeeAnn Farr had a new personal record in the Shot Put with a throw of 10 meters.
Mars Hill finished in fourth place behind Western Carolina, Lenoir-Rhyne and UT-Chattanooga. The Lions will compete in their final meet of the season next weekend at the SAC Championships.
