MONTEVALLO, ALA. – The Mars Hill women's cross country team produced a solid showing at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Meet on Saturday, November 05. Each runner for the women today collected a personal-best, including Abbey Nichols, who destroyed her previous best by three minutes in her final Collegiate Cross Country race.
Kaleigh Jackson was the high finisher on the afternoon for the Lions with a time of 22:56.82 in the 8k, good enough for 34th. Freshmen Rachel Strickland and Sydney Britt claimed 120th and 128th places, respectively, while Andrea Wolfrey crossed the line in a new best of 26:23.13. Kali Clemmer and Danielle Dunn also turned in positive performances that Head Coach Mike Owens says makes the future bright for the Lions.
"Every one of our ladies had their best 6K race ever, that's all you can ask for. With three freshmen in our Top Five we are all definitely excited about where this team is headed," said Owens.
