Mars Hill closes out season on Senior Day

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill acrobatics & tumbling team (2-5) closed out their season on Thursday evening, falling to King (4-6) by a score of 266.540-253.785.
King led by less than a point at the end of the compulsory event with their highest score coming in the acro heat, posting a 9.60. Mars Hill nearly collected a perfect score in the pyramid heat, scoring a 9.90 out of 10.0.
At the conclusion of the acro event, Mars Hill led King by 0.05 points, leading 29.70-29.65 after two events. In their third heat, the 7-element, the Lions posted the highest score between the teams with a 9.65.
King rallied in the pyramid event, scoring 28.85 out of a possible 29.80 points in the event, including a 9.95 in the open heat; the highest scoring heat of the night. In the toss event, the Tornado scored over 9.00 in two of the three heats, beginning to pull away from the Lions.
Of the six-heat tumbling event, King scored over 9.00 three times, all in the single passes. Bobbie Russell posted the highest score for Mars Hill in the aerial pass, recording a 9.275.
The Tornado closed out the night with a team event that scored a 94.19 out of a 101.19 start value. Mars Hill scored a 90.31 out of 100.46 start value.
At the conclusion of the meet, senior Ally Helmers was recognized on Senior Night for her contributions to the program.
