Lions to Host Annual Basketball Madness
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's and women's basketball teams will host its annual Basketball Madness on Thursday, October 27 at Chambers Gymnasium.
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's and women's basketball teams will host its annual Basketball Madness on Thursday, October 27 at Chambers Gymnasium. This will be the first opportunity for fans to meet the 2016-17 MHU basketball teams.
The event's activities will begin at 4:00 p.m. on the blacktop behind the gym at the football field. Dinner will be served and games such as corn hole and bubble sumo will be available to participate in. There will also be a station set up for face paintings.
Doors will be opened at approximately 6:30 p.m. and the first 100 students will receive a free t-shirt, compliments of the teams. From 6:45-7:00 there will be an eating contest followed by a performance from the cheerleaders. After a welcoming from long-time PA announcer Stuart Jolley, games of musical chairs and dizzy bat will be played. The drum line will then perform before a men's and women's paired three-point shootout ensues.
The cheerleaders will perform once more followed by the introduction of the women's team and scrimmage. After the women's scrimmage the men's team will be announced and they will host a scrimmage game as well. Directly after the men's game the remaining gifts on-hand will be raffled off, concluding the program.
Both teams kickoff the 2016-17 season on Friday, November 11th. The men will host Belmont Abbey College at 7:30 p.m., while the ladies travel to Bristol, Tenn. to take on Lees-McRae College at 8:00 p.m.
