RADFORD, Va. - The Mars Hill men's basketball team opened their 2020-21 season facing off against Radford in exhibition play, falling by a score of 98-50 Wednesday afternoon.
With 3:10 played in the first half, Jamal Bryant's three-pointer tied the game at five. Quinton Rober-Morton answered with a triple of his own, the catalyst for a 15-0 run over the next 4:50. Another 6-0 run later in the half saw the Highlanders lead jump to 28-10 with under nine to play in the half.
Reggie Wright and Indiana Rotondo led the Lions with five points apiece in opening frame while Isayah Johnson added four. Shaquan Jules led all players with 10 points followed by Josiah Jeffers and Fah'Mir Ali's nine apiece.
The Highlanders continued their momentum in the second half, matching their 49-point first half output. Lewis Djonkam led all players with 10 points in the half, adding five rebounds. Johnson scored seven of Mars Hill's 27 second half points to end the contest with 11 points in his Mars Hill debut.
Radford shot 56 percent from the floor, including 10 three-pointers on 17 attempts. Djonkam led all players with 116 points while four other Highlanders finished with double-digits.
Mars Hill returns to action on Saturday, December 12 when they take to the road, squaring off against conference foe Wingate. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
