YOUNG HARRIS, Ga.- Christian McArthur's golden goal at the 96:27 mark of overtime gave the Mars Hill men's soccer team a 1-0 victory over No. 3 Young Harris on Sunday afternoon. Mars Hill improves to 1-2 on the season while Young Harris drops to 3-1.
"This was a good win for the boys", head coach Gary Hamel said. "They defended well and their mentality was very good playing against a very talented Young Harris team. We are happy but now we are focused on conference play."
McArthur's goal came after Stian Sanner had an indirect free kick from roughly 12 yards to the right of the goal. Sanner's ball went to McArthur, who fired the ball to the top of the net for his first goal of the season. The Lions were outshot 22-7 and 9-5 in shots on goal.

Connor Talbot earned his first win of the season after he made nine saves on nine shots on goal, with six of those saves coming in the first half. Anton Viden took the loss as he made four saves on five shots on goal.
Mars Hill opens South Atlantic Conference play on Wednesday at Meares Stadium and Ammons Family Athletic Center, welcoming No. 23 Wingate for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
