Briceno sets school record at Bulldog Invite
The Mars Hill men's swim team placed third at the Bulldog Invite after the three-day event concluded Sunday evening.
BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Mars Hill men's swim team placed third at the Bulldog Invite after the three-day event concluded Sunday evening.
Raul Briceno set a school record in the 400 yard IM, claiming first in the finals with a time of 4:05.39. He also won the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:31.53, a full 10 seconds over second place. He claimed first in the 1,650 yard freestyle with a time of 16:01.48, a full 37 seconds ahead of second place. Briceno placed second in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 1:57.30.
Thomas Gibson won the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 45.55. In the 50 yard freestyle, Gibson placed second with a time of 21.01. He placed third in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 50.66.
Matthew Goslin, in the 100 yard breaststroke, finished first with a time of 57.97. He placed second in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:06.62, narrowly missing first place by 0.08 seconds.
In the 100 yard backstroke and 200 yard backstroke, Eduardo Motta placed second with times of 53.13 and 1:56.21, respectively.
The quartet of Motta, Goslin, Gibson, and Briceno placed second in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 3:28.58. Gibson, Goslin, Briceno, and Samuel Brooks finished second in the 800 yard freestyle relay with a time of 6:58.11.
The Lions scored 673 points over the three days.
