Lions sweep Senior Day meet versus Warren Wilson, Salem College
The Mars Hill men's and women's swim teams defeated Warren Wilson and Salem College on Friday night inside Harrell Pool on Senior Day.
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's and women's swim teams defeated Warren Wilson and Salem College on Friday night inside Harrell Pool on Senior Day.
The Lions went undefeated in the 22 events swam.
Men's Results
(MHU 150, Warren Wilson 20)
Mars Hill's Eduardo Motta, Abbott Nixon, Ronin Pettit, and Will Anderson won the 200 yard medley relay in a time of 1:46.69.
Pettit won the 200 yard freestyle in 1:58.09 and the 200 yard IM in 2:17.56. Motta claimed first in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 57.72.
In the 100 yard breaststroke, Matthew Goslin claimed victory in a time of 1:00.06.
Raul Briceno claimed the 1000 yard freestyle in 10:00.03 and the 500 yard freestyle in 4:46.52.
In the 50 yard freestyle, Thomas Gibson took first with a time of 21.14 and won the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 46.88.
Briceno, Goslin, Sailor White, and Samuel Brooks took the 200 yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:33.48.

Women's Results
(MHU 119, Warren Wilson 39; MHU 119, Salem College 20)
The quartet of Maggie Anders, Sarah Ellen Johnson, Ella Abbott, and Cassidy Hull won the 200 yard medley relay in 2:06.24.
Anders claimed the 1000 yard freestyle in 11:40.66 and the 100 yard freestyle in 59.69.
Hull won the 200 yard freestyle in 2:10.95 as Johnson won the 200 yard IM in 2:23.21. Alba Silva, in the 50 yard freestyle, took first with a time of 24.79.
Maria Arrabal took first in the 100 yard butterfly in 1:02.87 and the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:07.25.
In the 100 yard backstroke, Leah Hinsley won with a time of 1:06.67 and claimed the 500 yard freestyle in 6:02.53.
Hinsley, Johnson, Arrabal, and Silva took the 200 yard freestyle relay in 1:46.32.
Prior to the meet beginning, seniors Dalton Davidson, Matthew Goslin, and Leah Hinsley were recognized for their contributions to their respective programs.
The Lions return to the pool on Saturday, January 28 when they face Lees-McRae and King. The meet is set for a 2 p.m. start.
