ROCK HILL, S.C. – Queens has been chosen first in the South Atlantic Conference’s men’s tennis annual preseason poll, it was announced today by the league office.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Queens has been chosen first in the South Atlantic Conference's men's tennis annual preseason poll, it was announced today by the league office. The Royals received five first-place votes from the League's head coaches with 135 points.
Wingate grabbed the No. 2 slot with five first-place votes and 125 points, while Tusculum, who received two first-place votes, came in at No. 3 with 107 points. Newberry placed fourth in the poll with 96 points and Anderson was voted No. 5 with 92 points. Lincoln Memorial came in at No. 6 with 73 points, followed by Lenoir Rhyne at No. 7 with 67 points. Coker's 66 points was good for the No. 8 slot and at No. 9 was Catawba with 55 points. Carson Newman placed tenth with 52 points, while Mars Hill received 38 points at No. 11. Brevard rounded out the poll with 22 points.
Tusculum standouts Leon Seiz and Tashique Kader were chosen first team doubles Preseason All-Conference. Newberry's Jordan Monosky and Jacon Svantessonlk joined the student-athletes, as well as Wingate's Filippo Pezzoli and Tyler Schofer.
In Singles, Jules Athalis and Andor Vas represented Queeens on the list. Wingates's Pezzoli and Josh Dutoit also joined the duo. Lincoln Memorial's Joshua Peress and Monosky of Newberry rounded out the list of first team singles honorees.
The 2017 South Atlantic Conference Men's Tennis season gets underway on Feb. 1. The 2017 SAC Men's Tennis Championship is slated for April 20-22 in Rock Hill, SC.
