
Softball Splits With Mount Olive
The Mars Hill softball team split a doubleheader with Mount Olive, dropping the first game 7-4 before holding off the Trojans for a 5-3 victory in game two.
MOUNT OLIVE, N.C.- The Mars Hill softball team split a doubleheader with Mount Olive, dropping the first game 7-4 before holding off the Trojans for a 5-3 victory in game two. Mars Hill improves to 1-5 on the season; Mount Olive is 6-6.
Game 1: Mount Olive 7, Mars Hill 4
Mars Hill took the lead in the top half of the inning before Mount Olive scored three runs in the bottom of the frame to take the lead. The Lions answered in the third with a pair of runs, aided by a Jamie Booze RBI double. Mount Olive used a Kristin Powers two-run double in the bottom of the third to take the lead and added a pair of runs in the fifth.
Game 2: Mars Hill 5, Mount Olive 3
Taylor Lail's two-run home run gave the Lions a 2-0 lead in the first, but a pair of base hits tied the game at two in the home half of the inning. The Lions took the lead in the fifth with a pair of runs and added an insurance run in the seventh. Mount Olive pushed a run across in the seventh but a diving catch by Hollie Norris ended the game.
Mars Hill will host North Greenville next Saturday in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
