
Stanek named to preseason All-SAC Team
Mars Hill third baseman Casey Stanek was named to the All-South Atlantic Conference preseason first team, as announced by the league Thursday afternoon.
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Mars Hill third baseman Casey Stanek was named to the All-South Atlantic Conference preseason first team, as announced by the league Thursday afternoon.
Stanek, a junior from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, led the Lions in several offensive categories last season, including hits (52), RBIs (24), doubles (14) and batting average, hitting .377 in 138 at-bats. Stanek also added four homeruns and was second in slugging percentage (.580) on the team.
The junior played in all 42 contests during the 2017 campaign. From March 29 to the first game of an April 22 double-header against Coker, Stanek had a 13-game hitting streak, racking up three homeruns, seven doubles, scoring 10 runs and driving in 11 of her 24 RBIs.
In the SAC Coaches Preseason Poll, the Mars Hill Lions were slated 10th, picking up 29 points.

Mars Hill softball opens its 2018 season on the road against Lander. The February 1 double-header begins at 1 p.m. with the second game slated for a 3 p.m. start. Mars Hill's first home game will be on February 11 versus Mercyhurst at 12 p.m.
