Mars Hill places second at Pfeiffer Spring Invitational
The Mars Hill women's golf team placed second overall at the Pfeiffer Spring Invitational.
OCEAN ISLE BEACH, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's golf team placed second overall at the Pfeiffer Spring Invitational.
The Lions sat in second after a day one score of 334, sitting 10 strokes behind Newberry. Laycee Hoffman was the top placing Lion at the end of round one, shooting an 80 overall.
Mars Hill shot a combined 317 in round two, the best out of the 10 teams competing on Tuesday and cutting 17 strokes off of their round one total.
Jalen Castle was one of two players to shoot a 71 in a round over the two-day tournament, cutting 11 strokes off of her round one 82 and placing fourth overall. Hoffman finished the tournament with a Top-10 finish, placing seventh overall.
Both Chelsea Baker and Leah Matney cut four strokes off of their round one totals, placing 12th and 16th, respectively.
Caroline Rizzo wrapped up the Lions' quintet, shaving five strokes off of her first round total and placing 29th overall.
Newberry held on for the win by four strokes, scoring back-to-back rounds of 324.
