Castle medals, Lions place second at WVWC Invite
Jalen Castle placed first at the West Virginia Wesleyan Invite Thursday afternoon, leading the Lions to a second place finish in their first tournament of the year.
ROANOKE, W.Va. - Jalen Castle placed first at the West Virginia Wesleyan Invite Thursday afternoon, leading the Lions to a second place finish in their first tournament of the year.
Castle shot an overall 79 on the day, one stroke better Kiana Toole of the host team.
Four Lions made their debut in the tournament. Caroline Rizzo placed ninth on the day, shooting an 88. Leah Matney finished 12th with a 90 and Chelsea Baker finished three strokes behind, placing 16th on the afternoon.
Laycee Hoffman finished 19th to round out the Lions' squad.
Westminster College won the tournament shooting a combined 342, eight strokes better than Mars Hill.
The Lions return to the links on Monday, September 27 when they participate in the King Invite held at the Golf Club of Bristol.
