Mars Hill defeated by No. 11 Wingate in home, SAC opener
The Mars Hill women’s lacrosse team (0-3, 0-1 SAC) was defeated by No. 11 Wingate (2-0, 1-0 SAC) by a score of 21-3 Wednesday night in their South Atlantic Conference and home opener.

MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team (0-3, 0-1 SAC) was defeated by No. 11 Wingate (2-0, 1-0 SAC) by a score of 21-3 Wednesday night in their South Atlantic Conference and home opener.
Wingate opened the contest, scoring 15 straight. Samantha Newton scored the lone Lions' tally in the half, converting the free position.
Less than a minute into the third, Haley Stallings scored her first of two goals on the evening. She struck again with 9:21 remaining in the contest.
Nicolette Diedrich led all players with seven points (4g, 3a).
The Lions face Lees-McRae on Saturday, February 17 inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. First draw is set for 12 p.m.
