Mars Hill runs at Royals XC Challenge
The Mars Hill women's cross country team continued their 2023 campaign at the Royals XC Challenge at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, North Carolina with a 5k race.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's cross country team continued their 2023 campaign at the Royals XC Challenge at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, North Carolina with a 5k race. The race was well attended with over 60 teams from NCAA D1, D2, D3, and some of the top NAIA teams in the nation. The Mars Hill women's team finished 25th place in the Gold 5k race.
The Mars Hill women were led for the first time this season by sophomore Lindsey Jenkins in a time of 20:26.46, just a few seconds from her personal best time. Following close behind was Hannah Frazer in a time of 20:38.56. The third through fifth female Lions crossed the finish line with a small fifteen second spread and new personal records to wrap up team scoring. Megan Van Etten ran a new season's best time of 22:13.53. Emma Bridges ran a new personal best time of 22:17.91. Sophia LeBrun ran a new personal best time of 22:28.04 to wrap up the strong pack run of the Mars Hill ladies.
Thoughts from Coach Benge:
"I loved seeing the ladies go compete with the teams from large Division I schools and come away with four new personal and season records. All three packs of our ladies worked very well together throughout the race to push the pace and compete with the other teams. If we continue this pack running, we will see great success at the conference championship!"
