Lions Finish in Eighth at Irish Creek

SALISBURY, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's golf team finished in eighth place at the 2014 Irish Creek Intercollegiate.
After shooting an opening round 302, the Lions shot a team score of 310 today for a total of 612. Chase Demisky had the low score of the day for Mars Hill, shooting a four-over-par 75. Adam Lumley returned to the clubhouse with a six-over-par 77, followed by Charles Hartzog with a 78. Hartzog had the lowest daily and overall score of the tournament for Mars Hill, finishing with a one-over 72 yesterday and a total score of 149.
Newberry won the tournament with a team score of 586, three shots better than a three-way tie for second place between Barton, Erskine and Limestone. Thomas Rowland of UNC Charlotte, playing as an individual, won the tournament in a playoff over John White of Lenoir-Rhyne. Both Rowland and White had a two-day total of 143.
The Lions will play in the Echo Farms Intercollegiate this weekend.
