Ortiz Earns ASC Male Swimmer of the Week
MARS HILL, N.C. – Freshman swimmer Erwin Ortiz has been named the Appalachian Swimming Conference Male Swimmer of the Week as announced by the league office today.
MARS HILL, N.C. – Freshman swimmer Erwin Ortiz has been named the Appalachian Swimming Conference Male Swimmer of the Week as announced by the league office today. This is the second plaudit for Ortiz on the season.
Ortiz had remarkable times at the Igloo Invite this weekend. Erwin tied for first place in the 500 free with a time of 4:40.07, he swam the 200 free 3 times this weekend going 1:44 in all of them, with his best time of 1:44.64, and the 1650 free he went 17:06.95. In the 400 Medley relays his 100 fly split was 51.58 and his lead-off time for the 400 free relay was 47.70. Ortiz's 500 time also set a new school record by more than five seconds.
The Lions have concluded the fall portion of their schedule and will return to the pool on Friday, January 13 when they travel to Bristol, Tenn. to face King University.
