Erwin Ortiz paced the Lions with a second place finish in the 1000 free, setting a new school record with a stellar time of 9:45.41. Matthew Walker touched the wall in third (9:49.22), Jake Moore in sixth (10:12.78), and Brett Malmstrom finished in seventh (10:17.09).
Ryan Martin and Vitor Goncalves joined Ortiz and Walker to establish a new school record in the 800 free relay (6:58.72).
The Lions control the top spot after finishing day one with 92 points, while Emmanuel College is in second with 81 points. Mars Hill will kick off day two of the action tomorrow morning.
