Lions Drop To Second After Day Two of ASC Championships

CHRISTIANSBURG, VA. – The Mars Hill men's swim team finishes day two of the Appalachian Swim Conference Championships in second place overall. Emmanuel College has moved into first with 287 points, while the Lions are not far behind with 226 points.
Erwin Ortiz continued to impress as he picked up a third place finish in the 500 free, setting a new school record at 4:38.45 and shaving more than a second off of his prelim time. Matthew Walker (4:43.36) and Jake Moore (4:49.58) collected fourth and sixth places, respectively.
Andy Disco had a solid time of 1:57.36 in the 200 IM to earn a sixth place finish, good enough for 13 points towards the team's total. Vitor Goncalves also had a strong race on the afternoon, coming in seventh overall in the 50 free.
The Lions are back in the pool tomorrow morning for day three-of-four of the 2017 ASC Championships and will look to improve on their overall standings.
