Athletic Highlights: September 11th – September 17th
Football: The Mars Hill football team defeated Catawba on the road Saturday evening, 35-20, in their South Atlantic Conference opener. Joe Taylor, Jr. rushed for two touchdowns while Simeon Thompson caught two touchdown passes. Jon Gullette racked up over 200 yards on the ground. The Lions host Barton on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Men's Soccer: The Lions went 0-1-1 this past week, falling to Saint Leo, 3-1, and drawing 0-0 earlier in the week with Lees-McRae. Diego Fernandez scored the Mars Hill goal versus Saint Leo. Mars Hill returns to SAC play, taking on Tusculum Wednesday evening and Lenoir-Rhyne Saturday night, both on the road.
Women's Soccer: Mars Hill drew with Young Harris Wednesday night, 1-1. Zoie Steinkamp scored her first of the season. Mars Hill returns to SAC play, taking on Tusculum Wednesday evening and Lenoir-Rhyne Saturday night, both on the road.
Volleyball: The Lions went 2-1 this past week, defeating Lincoln Memorial Tuesday night and Emory & Henry on Friday night, but falling to Lenoir-Rhyne in four Saturday afternoon. Mars Hill hosts Tusculum on Tuesday night before facing Coker on the road Friday night
Men's Cross Country: The Mars Hill men's cross country team placed third amongst Division II schools at the Covered Bridge Invitational Friday morning.
Women's Cross Country: The Mars Hill women's cross country team placed third amongst Division II schools at the Covered Bridge Invitational Friday morning.
