Lions sweep Friday set versus L-R
The Mars Hill baseball team (12-10, 9-9 SAC) took both games Friday afternoon versus Lenoir-Rhyne (14-9, 11-7 SAC) by scores of 3-1 and 8-4.

HICKORY, N.C. - The Mars Hill baseball team (12-10, 9-9 SAC) took both games Friday afternoon versus Lenoir-Rhyne (14-9, 11-7 SAC) by scores of 3-1 and 8-4.
GAME ONE: MHU 3, L-R 1
Scoreless after four innings, the Lions broke the deadlock as Scottie Lee scored on an error committed by the Bears. In the top of the sixth, Trevor Bailey drove in Ruben Trillo with a RBI double to left center field to put the Lions up by two.
Mike McHugh's RBI single in the bottom of the frame cut the deficit down to one, plating David Bell.
In the top of the seventh, the Lions added an insurance run as Jordan Lathe reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Austin Treadway.
AJ Chacon picked up the complete game victory, allowing one run on four hits while striking out three.
GAME TWO: MHU 8, L-R 4
Mars Hill turned a game-ending double-play with the bases loaded to complete the Friday sweep.
The Lions opened the scoring in the top of the first, plating three runs. Tyler Lala hit a two-run home run to center field and later in the frame, Scottie Lee's RBI double plated Hunter Holland to put the Lions up 3-0.
Mars Hill added three more runs in the top of the fourth, highlighted by Ruben Trillo's RBI double to left center, scoring Cal Hubbard.
Lenoir-Rhyne scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth, highlighted by E.J. Ranel's solo home run to left center. Ranel picked up his second RBI of the night with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth, scoring Will Jones.
Kameron Reynolds' two-run double to left center put the game out of reach for the Bears as both Lala and Trey Putnam came home for the Lions, building a four-run lead.
Lala and Reynolds led the Lions with two RBI while Trillo led all players with three hits.
Andrew Hazell earned the win, allowing three runs on four hits in five innings pitched.
Mars Hill returns to the diamond on Saturday, March 27 when they close out the series versus Lenoir-Rhyne. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
