Lions felled by Young Harris
The Mars Hill baseball team (12-13) was defeated 24-5 versus Young Harris (15-7) Tuesday afternoon on the road in non-conference play.

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - The Mars Hill baseball team (12-13) was defeated 24-5 versus Young Harris (15-7) Tuesday afternoon on the road in non-conference play.
The Mountain Lions went up 7-0 after one inning. Zach Weaver's solo home run in the top of the second put Mars Hill on the board, but Young Harris responded with Kyle Ayres' two-run double to build their lead to eight.
Young Harris would add seven runs over the fourth and fifth innings as Cole Jackson recorded four RBI during the stretch that included a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. The Mountain Lions added six more runs in the seventh.
Mars Hill tacked on four runs in the eighth, highlighted by Tanner Hodgson's two-run single that plated Sam Spicuzza and Trey Putnam.
Stephen Spell concluded the scoring with a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth.
Jackson led all players with two hits and four RBI. Tucker Greer added three RBI while Jackson Jones scored four runs. Hodgson led the Lions with two RBI.
A total of 18 pitchers were used in the contest with Mark Castle picking up the win, striking out three in 1.2 innings pitched. Anthony Azar suffered the loss.
The Lions return to South Atlantic Conference play on Friday, April 2 when they host Catawba. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
