
Joyce named to All-SAC Third Team, Joy & Lions named statistical champions
Junior midfielder Sydney Joyce was named to the 2022 All-South Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse Third Team, as released by the league Thursday morning.
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Junior midfielder Sydney Joyce was named to the 2022 All-South Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse Third Team, as released by the league Thursday morning.
Joyce led the team with 89 draw controls and was second in caused turnovers with 20. She recorded 46 points, placing third on the team with her 35 goals being second best on the team. Joyce's best offensive game came against Charleston in the Lions' 15-12 victory where she potted four goals and picked up three assists for seven points.
She collected a season-high 11 draw controls versus UVA Wise on April 5 and posted four games with nine draw controls apiece.
During the season, Joyce surpassed the 100 career point mark, currently sitting at 120 (93g, 27a) and the 150 career draw control mark, currently sitting at 169.
Senior goalkeeper Virginia Joy was named a statistical champion, leading the conference in ground balls per game with 5.58. The Lions, as a whole, were named statistical champions in the same category, collecting 22.40 ground balls per game.
