MARS HILL, N.C. – Chloe Zador has been named the new head women's lacrosse coach, as announced by Director of Athletics Rick Baker.
Zador is the second head coach in the program's history.
"I would like to thank everyone that has helped me along this process, including Director of Athletics Rick Baker, Assistant Director of Athletics Elle Elder, and my mentor Kristina Llanes," Zador said. "It has been an honor to work at Mars Hill as an assistant for the past two years and I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the program to new heights."
Zador started with Mars Hill as a graduate assistant coach for the 2021 season, assisting with daily conditioning and practice plans, monitoring the team's study hall hours, and specializing as the goalkeeper coach. She was named the assistant coach - first in program history - in the summer of 2021 and helped lead the Lions to their most successful season to date, winning a program-best seven games.
During her two seasons with Mars Hill, Zador guided goalkeepers to set new Mars Hill standards for lowest goals against average (GAA) and save percentage for individual season performances. She helped coach two All-South Atlantic Conference selections as well as an individual statistical champion in 2021 and 2022 for most ground balls per game. The team won the SAC statistical championship in 2022 for most ground balls per game.
Baker stated, "Coach Zador will do a great job leading our women's lacrosse program. Her work ethic, organizational skills, combined with her knowledge of women's lacrosse make her a perfect fit for our program. Coach Zador also cares about our student-athletes and will work hard helping them obtain their degree and have a positive experience during their time at Mars Hill."
Zador graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Sports Management from Florida Institute of Technology in the spring of 2020 while playing goalkeeper for the team. She obtained her Master of Management from Mars Hill in the spring of 2021. She is also a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer.
She added, "I look forward to continuing to work with and build strong women for the future."
