Johnson named SAC Player of the Week
Senior middle hitter Sally Anne Johnson earned her first South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week honors of the 2019 season, leading the Lions to a perfect 3-0 week.
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com)– The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Volleyball Players of the week for matches played during the third week of the 2019 season. Mars Hill's Sally Anne Johnson takes Player of the Week honors, while Anderson's Emily Conlin was named Specialist of the Week.
Johnson, a senior middle hitter, helped lead the Lions to a perfect 3-0 week in conference play. She tallied 49 kills and 16 blocks overall with a high of 29 kills and 8 blocks against UVa-Wise. Johnson hit .430 over the week and picked up 15 digs and two service aces as well. This is Johnson's first Player of the Week honor.
A senior setter from Glendale, AZ. Conlin helped the Trojans to a perfect 3-0 record on the week. Conlin pulled together three double-doubles while averaging 45 assists and more than 14 digs per match. She recorded a season-high 49 assist and 20 digs in a five-set win over Carson-Newman. She then went on to break her record of 49 assists with 53 assists, 13 digs, and nine kills against Lincoln Memorial on Saturday. Conlin currently leads the conference in assists (318) and is second in the SAC for assists per set (10.26). This is Conlin's first Specialist of the Week honor this season.
