MARS HILL, N.C. - Every Wednesday throughout the 2020 fall semester, Mars Hill Athletics will feature and show appreciation to Mars Hill University Faculty and Staff for their support of our student-athletes.
Today, we feature Dr. Ann Peiffer, Associate Professor of Psychology.
Q: How long have you been at MHU?
A: I started in the Fall of 2014, so this makes year number seven.
Q: Favorite sports to attend/watch at MHU?
A: I like to attend sports where I have students in my classes competing, especially when asked. I think I get the most grading done at the basketball and volleyball matches. I have yet to get to a track and field event or golf – so those are on my list to see yet.
Q: What makes our student-athletes special?
A: Student-athletes are special in part to their dedication to the sport and the desire to compete in college level sports. It can be a lot to juggle, but it is also a rich learning experience.
Q: What do you hope the student-athlete experience is like during their time at MHU?
A: I would hope student-athletes take care of themselves as a whole person, learn to appreciate what MHU offers them both on and off the field, and reach personal goals to develop into a kind, responsible, caring human being.
Q: What do you hope the student-athletes take away from their time, as a whole, at MHU?
A: I hope student-athletes have felt supported, nurtured, and encouraged during their time at MHU. I hope they take the lessons that they have learned both on and off the field to make the world a better place – however large their influence may be in the future.
