Women's Track Shines In Johnson City

Dana Thompson turned in strong performances to help guide the Lions in the opening night of the meet. Thompson beat out several Division I contestants in the weight throw as she was able to collect a ninth-place finish with a distance of 11.97m while also placing 23rd in the shot put with a throw of 9.49m.
LeeAnn Farr finished just above Thompson in the shot put event, coming in 19th with a nice distance of 9.95m. Freshman Samantha Burns tallied a 22nd place finish in the triple jump as she soared for a distance of 9.87m.
As for the runners, Kaleigh Jackson took home the 21st spot in the 5000m, crossing the line at 19:42.95, while Savannah Hulbert came in 22nd in the 60m hurdles (9.58).
The meet will conclude tomorrow.
