Records Fall and Personal Marks Set at Wingate Invite
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Mars Hill women’s track team turned in an impressive showing at the Wingate Invite on Friday, March 25.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Mars Hill women's track team turned in an impressive showing at the Wingate Invite on Friday, March 25. Two school records went down and several personal bests were established as the meet concluded.
Dana Thompson and Taylor Jordan re-wrote the record books for Mars Hill as they each were able to set new school marks in their respective events. Thompson now holds the school record in the hammer throw with a toss of 35.70 meters while Jordan dropped her name in the books with a throw of 34.6 meters in the javelin.
Along with the new school records, two other athletes set personal bests in different categories. Kaleigh Jackson set a new career-best in the 5000 with a stellar time of 19:34. Samantha Burns conquered two new marks with a distance of 4.67 meters in the long jump and 10.06 meters in the triple jump.
The team will be back in action on Saturday, April 2 as they travel to compete in the Terriers Relay.
