Women's Track With Good Showing at Buccaneer Invitational
JOHNSON CITY, TENN. – The Mars Hill women’s track and field team completed the first day of the Buccaneer Invitational hosted by East Tennessee State University on Friday, February 05.
JOHNSON CITY, TENN. – The Mars Hill women's track and field team completed the first day of the Buccaneer Invitational hosted by East Tennessee State University on Friday, February 05. Several personal records were set as coaches raved of the runners' performances.
"We had an excellent day at ETSU", said Coach Bradley Nagel. "We were very excited with today's performances and expect the same results tomorrow as we finish the two day meet", he added.
Senior Shelby Robinson set a new PR in the 5,000 as she surpassed her old record by more than 50 seconds, running an excellent 19:31.
Freshman Arriel Smith boasted a new personal best in the 400 as she crossed the line in 1:02.6, eclipsing her old mark by a second and a half. Smith also had a half second PR in the 200m, completing the race in 27.52. Autumn Miller set a new career mark in the 400 with a time of 1:05.9.
The Lions will return to the track tomorrow to complete the two-day event.
