Mars Hill finishes 12th at Catamount Classic
The Mars Hill women’s track & field team competed in the Catamount Classic hosted by Western Carolina University.
CULLOWHEE, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's track & field team competed in the Catamount Classic hosted by Western Carolina University.
DAY ONE:
Fourteen Lions competed throughout the afternoon and into the evening.
Throwers:
Makayla Rogers, Keagan Osika, and Lacey Scott competed in javelin. Rogers advanced to the finals, placing seventh overall with a personal best 30.17m. Rogers earned two points for the team. Osika placed 12th overall with a throw of 21.24m and Scott placed 16th overall with a throw of 18.38m.
Distance:
Alyssa Jamerson, Emma Bridges, and Megan Van Etten competed in the 5000m run. Jamerson lead the way for the Lions with a season best 20:26.13, placing 12th overall. Bridges finished with a personal best 21:48.31, placing 14th overall. Van Etten placed 15th overall with a time of 22:01.12.
Lindsey Jenkins and Anahi Reta both ran personal bests in the 1500m run. Jenkins placed 19th overall with a time of 5:04.17 while Reta placed 35th overall with a time of 6:04.77.
Sprinters/Hurdlers:
Scott, Elida Taylor, Haley Eddinger, and Tristen Quarles competed in the 100m sprint. Taylor finished with a new personal best 13.21s, placing 28th overall. Scott placed 34th overall, finishing with a new lifetime best 13.82s. Eddinger finished 35th with a time of 14.09s as Quarles placed 36th with a time of 15.76s.
Osika and Taylor competed in the 200m sprint. Osika placed 22nd overall with a time of 26.78s. Taylor finished with a personal best 27.22s, good for 26th overall.
Rogers and Simone Giggetts competed in the 100m Hurdles. Giggetts placed 13th overall, finishing in a time of 16.58s. Rogers placed 14th overall with a time of 17.67s.
Jumpers:
Rogers, Eddinger, Maya Adams, and Bailey Beeman took to the runway in long jump. Rogers lead the way for the Lions with a mark of 4.47m, placing 21st overall. Adams jumped a season best 4.23m. Adams placed 23rd overall. Beeman placed 24th with a jump of 4.19m. Eddinger paced 26th overall with a jump of 4.04m.
The Lions finished day one with a team score of two points.
DAY TWO:
Eight Lions competed throughout a sunny day two.
Distance:
Maya Adams ran a personal best 3:01.93 in the 800m run, crushing her previous best by 16 seconds. Adams placed 38th overall on the day.
Jumpers:
Keagan Osika and Makayla Rogers both competed in high jump. Osika placed 11th overall with a jump of 1.4m.
Sprinters:
Elana Mackey and Seanna Milton competed in the 400m sprint. Mackey ran a season best 1:03.06 and finished 22nd overall. Milton placed 25th overall with a time of 1:15.77.
Throwers:
Bailey Beeman and Cierra Williams competed in both shot put and discus. Beeman placed 16th in shot put with a throw of 9.28m and 27th in discus with a personal best 24.67m.
The Lady Lions finished competition with a team score of 2pts, placing 12th overall as a squad.
