Mars Hill finishes 11th at SAC Championships
The Mars Hill women's track & field team traveled to Anderson University to compete in the South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held over Wednesday and Thursday of this week.
ANDERSON, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's track & field team traveled to Anderson University to compete in the South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held over Wednesday and Thursday of this week.
Sixteen Lions qualified for conference.
Highlights from the two-day meet:
Throws
Cierra Williams qualified in both discus and shot put. Williams earned a spot on the podium in discus with a third place finish. Her throw of 41.89m was a new lifetime best and a new school record. Williams earned six points toward the team total. Williams placed 16th in shot put with a throw of 10.16m.
Bailey Beeman qualified in shot put and discus. Beeman placed 24th in shot put with a throw of 8.75m and 27th in discus with a throw of 24.37m.
Makayla Rogers, Alina Mueller, Keagan Osika, and Lacey Scott all qualified in javelin. Rogers and Mueller both earned a trip to the finals, earning points toward the team total. Rogers placed sixth overall with a personal best throw of 31.63m. Mueller placed seventh overall with a throw of 30.18m. Osika placed 12th with a throw of 25.06m and Scott placed 13th with a personal best throw of 24.42m.
Jumps
Mykayla King vaulted to a seventh place finish in pole vault. King vaulted 2.7m and earned 1.5 points toward the team total.
Beeman Haley Eddinger and King qualified in long jump. Beeman led the way for the Lions with a jump of 4.33m, placing 29th overall. Eddinger placed 30th with a jump of 4.32m. King placed 31st overall with a jump of 4.16m.
Rogers and Eddinger qualified in triple jump. Rogers jumped a season best 9.96m, placing 15th overall. Eddinger placed 20th overall with a jump of 9.37m.
Sprints
Osika qualified in both the 100m and 200m. She placed 22nd in the 100m with a personal best 12.53s. and 23rd in the 200m with a time of 26.58s.
Elana Mackey qualified in the 400m sprint. Mackey placed 20th overall in the conference with a time of 1:03.75.
Distance
Lindsey Jenkins qualified in the 1500m run. Jenkins placed 21st overall with a time of 5:20.04.
Alyssa Jamerson, Emma Bridges, and Megan Van Etten qualified in the 5000m run. Jamerson placed 28th overall with a season best 20:17.33. Bridges placed 35th overall, finishing with a time of 22:08.59. Van Etten placed 36th overall with a time of 22:26.86.
Heptathlon
Rogers, Osika, and Maya Adams competed in the Heptathlon, which took place over the two days. Day one events consisted of the 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put, and the 200m sprint. Day two consisted of long jump, javelin, and the 800m run.
Rogers placed sixth overall with a personal best score of 3.582. Rogers ran a lifetime best 16.63s, jumped a personal best 1.48m, and earned three points toward the team total.
Osika ended day one in seventh place. Osika jumped a personal best 1.48m in high jump.
Adams competed in her first Heptathlon, placing 10th overall with a score of 1,847pts.
The Lions finished 11th overall with a team score of 15.5 points.
