Lions Place Second at Montreat
MARS HILL, N.C.-- Mars Hill's women's cross country team placed second in the Hyder-McMahill Invitational, hosted Saturday morning by Montreat College.
MARS HILL, N.C.-- Mars Hill's women's cross country team placed second in the Hyder-McMahill Invitational, hosted Saturday morning by Montreat College.
Lion runners earned a score of 81 to narrowly edge Emmanuel College (83). Jessica Viscusi placed sixth overall with the best time by a Lion runner. Faith Trammell also finished in the top 10, earning a ninth-place finish. Wingate placed first overall with 15 points as the Bulldogs turned in the top five times in the race.
Viscusi ran the only sub-20:00 time for MHU, turning in a time of 19:51.92 to lead the Lions for the second-consecutive week. Trammell finished in 20:43.78 to place ninth overall.
Heidi Hooker ran a time of 21:20.49 to finish 18th overall. Anje Kidd (22nd) and Savannah Hulbert (26th) rounded out Mars Hill's top five.
Shelby Robinson (27th) and Elizabeth Klapmeyer (34th) also turned in strong performances for MHU.
Mars Hill will compete in the Winthrop Invitational next Saturday, Sep. 21 at 9:00 a.m. in Rock Hill, S.C.
