Viscusi Earns All-Academic Recognition
Junior Jessica Viscusi earned United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Individual All-Academic honors, announced Friday. Viscusi, a Chemistry major, holds a 3.83 GPA.
NEW ORLEANS, LA. – Junior Jessica Viscusi earned United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Individual All-Academic honors, announced Friday. Viscusi, a Chemistry major, holds a 3.83 GPA.
The recognition caps a fantastic 2013 cross country season for Viscusi. Viscusi ran the third best 6K time in school history in November at the NCAA Division II National Championships in Spokane, Wash. with a time of 22:50.6. Viscusi earned First Team All-SAC honors with a fifth place finish in the SAC championship meet on Oct. 26.
Mars Hill earned Team All-Academic honors, as the Lions finished with a 3.314 team GPA.
A total of 337 women in Division II earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for the 2013 cross country season. Honorees must have compiled a cumulative GPA or 3.25 or greater and must have finished among the top 30 percent of total eligible runners at her regional championship (total Division II teams in the region multiplied by seven runners per team) or in the top half of the field at the NCAA Championships.
Those 337 women hail from 126 different institutions and 22 different conferences. Shippensburg, Western State and Adams State topped the list with seven honorees each, followed by seven teams with six selections apiece: Northern Michigan, Southwest Baptist, Seton Hill, Edinboro, West Georgia, West Texas A&M and Neb.-Kearney.
Eleven individuals from seven South Atlantic Conference schools earned Individual All-Academic recognition. Five SAC teams earned Team All-Academic honors.
