AUSTIN, TEXAS – Carl Mattox has been named to the 2015 Academic All-Super Region 2 football team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
"Carl is very deserving of this honor," head coach Tim Clifton said. "He's a good player, a good student and a fine Christian young man."
Mattox, a junior Business Administration major with a 3.75 GPA, has made 55 tackles (37 solo), six tackles for loss, one interception and six pass breakups in nine games played for MHU this season. He currently is tied for ninth in the league with 37 solo tackles. Mattox made a team-leading 10 tackles against NCAA Football Championship Subdivision member Chattanooga on September 12 and led the Lions with 16 tackles in a 41-37 home victory over Lenoir-Rhyne on October 24. This is his first Academic All-Super Region 2 honor.
