MARS HILL, N.C. - Western North Carolina football fans get free admission at Mars Hill University this Saturday to "Fill the Hill" for the Lions' final home football game of the season.
Mars Hill takes on Tusculum at 1 p.m. with a spot in the South Atlantic Conference Championship Game on the line—the Lions and Pioneers are tied for the Mountain Division lead going into Saturday's game.
Fans who live in one of the seven Local Lion Promise counties—Avery, Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson, Madison, Mitchell, and Yancey—will be admitted to the game free of charge. The Local Lion Promise is Mars Hill's scholarship program which guarantees more than 50 percent off tuition for students in those counties.
Saturday's game also will feature the three new inductees into the Mars Hill University Athletics Hall of Fame: softball star and two-time All-American, Natalie Haithcox Lange; quarterback and former NFL coach, Jon Richt; and longtime trustee and supporter of Mars Hill Athletics, Wayne Higgins. The final home game also is Senior Day, with special pre-game recognitions for seniors on the football team and the spirit teams.
