Mars Hill takes first at Bulldog Invitational
Several school records broken in Lions' impressive weekend performance.
Barbourville, Ky. – The Mars Hill men's swim team placed first out of seven teams at the 2024 TYR Bulldog Invitational over the weekend with 744 total points.
The weekend started off strong with a win in the 800-freestyle relay Thursday night. The team of Andres Bodington, Luka Jankovic, Juan Andres Garcia, and Juan Jose Moncada swept the competition with a time of 6:53.20.
Moncada set a new school record in the 400IM with a time of 4:01.28, dropping over 12 seconds between prelims and finals.
Bodington turned in several individual first place finishes in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:33.80 and the 1650 free with a time of 15:47.50. He secured an impressive 71 points for the Lions throughout the weekend.
Jakub Szpaler came out on top in the 100 backstroke with a time of 49.61. He also set a new school record in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:51.13.
The Lions return to action at home on January 11th against Emory & Henry and Lees-McRae.
