
Lions close out season at SAC Championships, Last Chance Meet
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's swim team competed at the SAC conference championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center February 4th – 8th and earned a fifth place finish.
Sophomore Andres Bodington scored an impressive 90 points over the weekend with three top-8 finishes in his individual events. He placed sixth in the 1000 free with a time of 9:26.21. His fifth place finish in the 500 free and fifth place finish in the 1650 free were both new school records with times of 4:30.75 and 15:50.23 respectively.
Freshman Jakub Szpaler had a great first conference championship with two top-8 finishes. He set a school record in the 200 backstroke where he finished fifth with a time of 1:49.81. His second top-8 finish was for fourth place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 48.87. Szpaler tied the school record in the 50 backstroke with a time of 22.52. He now shares this record with recent Mars Hill Hall of Fame inductee, Hudson Tucker.

New School Record Set at Last Chance Invitational
ATLANTA, Ga. – Three men's swimmers traveled to Atlanta Georgia on February 21-22 to the Emory Last Chance Invitational.
Andres Bodington set a new school record in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 15:34.64. This time also earned him a first-place finish.
Juan Moncada finished 2nd in the 400IM with a time of 4:02.01 and improved his time to a 4:01.49 in a time trial.
Jakub Szpaler competed in two events over the weekend as well. The 100 and 200 backstroke with times of 49.69 and 2:16.03 respectively.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Mars Hill women's swim team competed at the South Atlantic Conference Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center February 4th – 8th and earned a fourth place finish.
Maria Arrabal was the top scorer on the women's side with four top-8 finishes in the 800-freestyle relay, 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay and 100 breast with a time of 1:06.61.
Arrabal, Catalina Portilla, Sofia Ospina and Maria Jose Orozco had an impressive showing as a relay team, setting three school records in three relays. They began with the 800-freestyle relay with a time of 7:59.65, then the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:49.58, and lastly the 400-medley relay with a time of 3:58.84.
Ospina also had an impressive showing with a sixth place finish in the 200 fly with a time of 2:08.76. Portilla was right behind her in seventh with a time of 2:09.48.
