
Lions open home slate versus Carson-Newman
Grace Jenkins and Sofia Ospina win individual events in home debut.
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's swim team opened their 2024-25 home slate, falling to Carson-Newman Saturday afternoon by a score of 133-68.
Grace Jenkins, in her Harrell Pool debut, took the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 58.87, securing nine points for the Lions. Also winning her home debut was Sofia Ospina in the 500 yard freestyle, recording a time of 5:27.25, over 11 seconds better than the second place finisher.
Ospina also placed second in the 1650 yard freestyle with a time of 18:49.66. Maria Jose Orozco placed second in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.61 while Catalina Portilla placed second in the 400 yard IM with a time of 4:43.72 and in the 100 yard freestyle with a time fo 54.97, just under a half second from first.

Mars Hill returns to the pool on November, 1 when they host King and Emmanuel. The meet is set for a 6 p.m. start.
