NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's tennis team (5-4, 0-2 SAC) was defeated by No. 25 Newberry (5-1, 1-0 SAC) by a score of 6-1 Thursday afternoon.
The Lions entered singles play trailing 1-0, dropping the doubles point. Newberry won five of the six singles flights to secure the victory. Ines Rodriguez picked up the lone Lions' singles win, downing Ish Singh in the third flight in three sets, 7-5, 2-6, 7-6 (7-5).
Mars Hill returns to the courts on Wednesday, March 8 when they face Wingate on the road. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
