
Goddard, Jimenez named to AVCA All-Southeast Region Team
Mars Hill outside hitter Sarah Goddard and libero Laela Jimenez were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Southeast Region Team, as announced Wednesday.
LEXINGTON, Ky. - Mars Hill outside hitter Sarah Goddard and libero Laela Jimenez were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Southeast Region Team, as announced Wednesday.
Graduate outside hitter Sarah Goddard was an All-SAC First Team selection for the first time in her illustrious career. Goddard was also named to the D2CCA All-Region Second Team earlier this year. The Las Vegas, Nevada native was second in the conference in kills (352) and kills per set (3.63), both categories leading the Lions. She added 293 digs and 55 blocks on the year.
Goddard sits third in Mars Hill program history with 1,329 kills. She amassed 1,183 digs, 207 blocks, 68 aces, and 62 assists in her five-year career.
Freshman libero Laela Jimenez was slotted to the All-SAC Second Team. She was also named to the All-SAC Freshman Team. The Naples, Florida native led the SAC in digs (543), 100 digs more than the next closest player. She also led the SAC in digs per set (5.72), which was best for fifth in the country.
In her first season, Jimenez added 76 assists and 12 aces, starting all 27 matches. She recorded a career-high 38 digs in the SAC Quarterfinal match versus Anderson.
