Maiden nets career-high 24 versus Benedict

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's basketball team (1-7) was defeated by Benedict (9-0) by a score of 90-75 Monday evening.
The Tigers led by 12 at the end of the first half, outscoring Mars Hill 49-37. Tim Moore, Brandon Smith, and Gob Gabriel each netted 10 points apiece as the Tigers shot over 60 percent from the floor.
Kadyn Dawkins led the Lions with nine points followed by six apiece from Aljaz Vidmar and Ji'lil Michael. Vidmar led all players with five rebounds.
In a more contested second half, Benedict shot just over 55 percent from the floor as Brandon Beidleman led the team with 10 points.
London Maiden went 8-of-11 from the floor, leading all players with 19 points and pulling down four rebounds. Kendall Davis added eight while Xavier Meekins added six.
Five Tigers totalled double-figures with Beidleman leading the way with 14 points. The trio of Moore, Gabriel, and Asanti Price netted 13 apiece.
Maiden scored a career-high 24 points and set a Lions' season-high with 10 shots made. He added five rebounds. The duo of Dawkins and Davis added 12 points apiece while Vidmar led the Lions with eight rebounds and chipped in eight points.
Mars Hill returns to South Atlantic Conference play on Wednesday, December 13 when they host Lenoir-Rhyne. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
