Lions down Limestone at home
The Mars Hill men’s basketball team (2-14, 1-8 SAC) defeated Limestone (9-8, 5-4 SAC) by a score of 86-82 Saturday afternoon inside Chambers Gymnasium.
MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's basketball team (2-14, 1-8 SAC) defeated Limestone (9-8, 5-4 SAC) by a score of 86-82 Saturday afternoon inside Chambers Gymnasium.
Mars Hill led 40-37 after the first 20 minutes of play, shooting 52 percent from the floor. Xavier Meekins led all players with 13 points, hitting four threes in the frame. Kory Davis added 12 points, going 5-of-7 from the floor. Caleb Mauldin hauled in six rebounds to lead all players.
Limestone was led by Ayden Hickman's 13 points followed by Zeb Graham's nine points.
The Lions continued to shoot well in the second half, outscoring Limestone 46-45 to hold off the Saints for their first South Atlantic Conference win of the season. Kadyn Dawkins netted 21 points in the half, hitting three threes while recording three assists, rebounds, and steals, apiece. Mauldin added nine points followed by six from London Maiden.
Zeb Graham scored 22 in the half for the Saints followed by 17 from Jacquez Yow.
Dawkins led the Lions with 25 points, four assists, and three steals. Meekins and Kory Davis each added 16 points apiece. Mauldin led the team with nine rebounds and ended the night with 12 points.
Mars Hill returns to action on Wednesday, January 24 when they face Newberry on the road. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
