Lions downed by Anderson

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's basketball team (1-11, 0-5 SAC) was defeated by Anderson (6-6, 1-3 SAC) by a score of 105-90 Saturday afternoon.
The Lions led 49-46 after the first 20 minutes of play as the duo of Kadyn Dawkins and Rajuan Conner each netted 14 points. Conner hit 4-of-5 three attempts while Dawkins was a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line. Marvin Hires added nine points. The team hit 57 percent of their shots from the floor.
Cole Middleton led the Trojans with 15 points and nine rebounds while Garrett Denbow added 11 points.
The Trojans saw three players record double-digits in the second half as they hit over 72 percent of their shots from the floor. Denbow led all players with 16 points followed by 13 apiece from Middleton and Mack Burgett. Luke Denbow led all players with six assists.
Dawkins added another 14 to lead the Lions in the second half while Conner and Derrick Molden Jr. each added six points.
Middleton led all players with 28 points and 14 rebounds for the double-double, going 10-of-12 from the floor. Garrett Denbow added 27 points, hitting five threes in the game while Luke Denbow posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 assists.
Dawkins led the Lions with a season-high 28 points and a team-high five assists. He went 11-of-11 from the free throw line. Conner went 6-of-7 from beyond the arc for 20 points. Hires led the team with six rebounds.
THe Lions return to the court on Wednesday, January 10 when they host Coker. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
