Lacrosse Welcomes Wingate for SAC Tournament Quarterfinal
Mars Hill and Wingate will play in the SAC Tournament quarterfinal at 4 p.m. on Tuesday
MARS HILL, N.C.- The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team will compete in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament quarterfinal round on Tuesday as they welcome Wingate to Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium for a 4 p.m. contest.
The Lions earned the fourth seed by virtue of their 5-3 record in the league, including a 17-10 victory at Wingate this past Saturday. Wingate claimed the fifth seed with a 4-4 conference mark.
Mars Hill is led offensively by Ryan Sage and Jimmy McBride. Sage is tied for fourth in the league with 31 goals, with McBride claiming a tie for seventh with 28 goals. Anthony Malcom is third in the conference with 21 assists and is 10th among all NCAA Division II players with 1.91 assists per game.
In their meeting on Saturday, Mars Hill scored eight second quarter goals to break a 4-4 tie en route to a 17-10 victory. Malcom had a game-high four goals, followed by Hunter Maggs with three goals and Ryan Sage with two goals. Both Sage and Malcom had two assists.
Ticket prices for all quarterfinal games will be $6 for adults, $3 children under 13 and & $2 for students with a valid college ID. There are no complimentary tickets available; however, Official SAC Passes, Tournament Sponsor invitations and VIP passes will be honored.
The winner of Tuesday's game will take on top-seed Queens at 4 p.m. on Thursday in Charlotte, N.C.
