MARS HILL, N.C. - Every Tuesday during the 2020 fall semester, a new Mars Hill Alumni Spotlight will be featured on the Mars Hill athletics' website.
This week's feature spotlights Mars Hill Hall of Famer, Derrick Sharpe.
Sharpe was a wide receiver for the Lions from 1990-93, earning South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year honors. Throughout his four-year career, Sharpe was an All-SAC honoree every season.
Upon his induction into the MHU Hall of Fame in 2004, Sharpe owned the school records for most receptions in a season with 64 and most career receptions with 229. Sharpe ended his career with 16 career touchdown receptions. He collected 3,094 career receiving yards which at the time, placed him fourth all-time in the conference.
Sharpe remains in the top-10, placing seventh as of this story.
