Mars Hill Athletics announces home football protocols
The Mars Hill University Athletic Department has announced their fan protocols for all home football contests during the spring season.
MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill University Athletic Department has announced their fan protocols for all home football contests during the spring season.
The Lions host Tusculum in their season opener on Friday, March 12. UVA Wise comes to The Hill on Friday, April 2. Both kickoffs are set for 7 p.m. inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.
Listed below are the protocols that must be adhered to:
- MASKS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES BY EVERYONE IN THE STADIUM.
- Maximum Capacity: 30% of stadium capacity. No visiting fans will be allowed entry.
- Only home fans and essential working personnel are allowed at the contests. No visiting fans will be permitted on campus.
- A pass list must be submitted 24 hours prior to all home contests by the head coach.
- Only home fans that are on a pass list will be admitted and MHU students with I.D.
- The head coach and athletic director will submit a pass list 24 prior to each home game for special guests of the team, including up to four family members for each student-athlete.
- Home fans may request to be added to the general pass list by submitting an online form at: https://form.jotform.com/210636499711965 First priority for passes will be reserved for MHU employees and their immediate family members, with a maximum of four family members per employee.
- Fans not on the pass list will not be permitted entry to Meares Stadium.
- Fans are not to congregate at the concession stand or bathroom areas.
- All home fans/parents will be required to enter through the main gate, located beside the Ammons Field House. MHU Student Life will man a check-in tent for MHU Students located near the top entrance to the stadium located off of Athletic Street.
- Tailgating will be allowed with the following caveats: One space between each car, no intermingling between groups. Spaces must be reserved. There will be a charge to reserve a spot.

- All fans will be required to have their temperature taken with a thermal scanner prior to entering the stadium.
- Bleachers will be marked at 10 ft. intervals and skipping two rows between seating areas, including the visiting side bleachers.
- Concessions will be limited to only bottle drinks, chips, Bojangles pre-packaged chicken sandwiches and candy.
- If an official cannot receive a PCR test 72 hours before or antigen test by the day of competition, they can receive an antigen test on site in the physician's exam room in Chambers Gymnasium.
- Fans are not allowed to be in or near team areas including, but not limited to locker room areas, team benches, huddles, playing field, etc.
