Roberts leads Lions to OT win in season finale

GAFFNEY, S.C. - The Mars Hill football team (1-2, 1-2 SAC) ended their spring campaign with a 42-35 overtime win over Limestone (1-3, 1-2 SAC) Saturday night on the road.
Christopher Roberts scored his fourth rushing touchdown of the game in overtime, tying a school record, and giving the Lions the 42-35 win. Roberts led all players with 192 yards on the ground and added four yards receiving. Lafayette Gurvin ran for 135 yards and one TD on the night.
Jimmy Urzua went 10-23 on the night for 161 yards and one interception while Marquis Williams caught three passes for 87 yards. Dexter Fitzpatrick led all players with 13 tackles.
Mars Hill opened the scoring in the first with Roberts' first on the night, a seven-yard rush. Limestone blocked the point after and responded less than a minute later off of Anthony McAfee's 40-yard run. A converted extra point saw the Saints go up 7-6 with 6:53 remaining in the quarter.
The score remained that way until the 2:03 mark of the second when the Saints extended their lead to 14-6 off of a Demond Ellison 15-yard touchdown reception from Dustin Noller. With just seven seconds remaining in the half, the Lions were able to tie the game at 14. Urzua punched it in from one yard out and the two-point conversion was good as Noah Pittman ran it in.
Gurvin scored the only points of the third quarter, a 25-yard scamper into the endzone to retake the 21-14 lead heading into the fourth.
The Saints scored three times in the quarter, including twice in the final three minutes of play. Jadarious Hector caught both touchdown passes, including the game-tying score with 13 seconds left in regulation.
Roberts scored twice in the fourth on nine yard and three yard rushes, respectively.
