Cuthbertson Named Preseason All-SAC

The Mars Hill men’s basketball team has been picked to finish in 12th place in the South Atlantic Conference men’s basketball preseason poll . In addition, senior Isaiah Cuthbertson has been named a preseason second team All-SAC selection.

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Mars Hill men's basketball team has been picked to finish in 12^th place in the South Atlantic Conference men's basketball preseason poll in a vote done by the league's head coaches, which was released Tuesday morning. In addition, senior Isaiah Cuthbertson has been named a preseason second team All-SAC selection.

The Lions finished with 38 points, three points behind 11^th place Catawba (41 points) and five points behind 10^th place Tusculum (43 points). Lincoln Memorial was selected as the preseason favorite with nine first place votes and 130 points.

Cuthbertson ranked third in the SAC in 2013-14 with an average of 9.7 rebounds per game. He was the league leader with 111 offensive rebounds and second with 247 total rebounds. Cuthbertson averaged 13.6 points per game and was second in the league with a 62.9 field goal percentage a year ago. On January 18, Cuthbertson put himself in the SAC record books by setting a new league record for rebounds in a game with 24 against Catawba as part of a 64-54 victory.

Mars Hill begins the 2014-15 season on Friday, November 14 against Belmont Abbey at 5 p.m. as part of the OrthoCarolina Tip-Off Challenge hosted by Wingate.
