The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team (3-7, 1-6 SAC) was defeated 27-10 by Coker (3-4, 1-3 SAC) on the road Sunday afternoon.

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team (3-7, 1-6 SAC) was defeated 27-10 by Coker (3-4, 1-3 SAC) on the road Sunday afternoon.
The Cobras used a 7-2 second quarter to pull away from Mars Hill. Opening the frame on a 6-0 run, Cal Gibson recorded three goals during the run. Andrew Dappen scored twice. Trevor Kennedy and Zac Carrigan scored the lone goals in the stanza for the Lions.
Coker outscored the Lions 14-3 in the second half, including a 10-2 mark in the third. Both Gibson and Joe Venazio scored three times apiece in the third. Kennedy scored both goals for the Lions.
Kennedy recorded the lone tally in the fourth for Mars Hill while Gibson added another two for the Cobras.
The first frame saw a closer contested match with Coker taking a 6-5 advantage into the second. The Lions had five different goal scorers in the quarter including Carrigan, Kennedy, Brandon Beland, Braden Hoskyn, and Jackson Courson. Gibson scored three times for the Cobras while Dappen added two.
Gibson led all players with 11 goals and picked up seven groundballs. Venazio added eight points (4g, 4a) while Dappen ended the contest with seven (4g, 3a).
Kennedy led the Lions with five goals followed by Beland's four points (1g, 3a). Carrigan added three points (2g, 1a).
Mars Hill returns to action on Saturday, April 3 when they host Catawba. Faceoff is set for 12 p.m.
